Our Mission
AtticusPoet.com publishes educational content on retroactive jealousy, Relationship OCD (ROCD), and ancient philosophy for modern emotional wellbeing. We exist to fill the gap between expensive one-size-fits-all courses and shallow blog posts that do not cite their sources.
We are not a therapy service. We do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Our content is intended to inform, normalize, and guide readers toward appropriate professional support — not to replace it.
Content Standards
Every piece of content published on this site is held to the following standards:
- Clinical claims are cited. All references to psychological mechanisms, symptom patterns, or treatment approaches are grounded in peer-reviewed research, IOCDF guidelines, APA resources, or ADAA guidance. We do not assert clinical facts without a verifiable source.
- Retroactive jealousy guides are cross-referenced against published academic work. We rely primarily on Doron & Derby (2010 and ongoing) for ROCD research, and Blayney & Burgess (2024, Counselling and Psychotherapy Research) for emerging frameworks on retroactive jealousy as a distinct presentation.
- No content is designed to diagnose or treat. If a guide covers OCD-spectrum content, we include a clear note that only a licensed clinician can diagnose OCD or ROCD.
- Self-help vs. clinical guidance is disclosed. Guides are labeled to reflect whether they contain general self-help strategies or content derived from clinical literature. Readers are encouraged to seek professional support for anything that significantly impairs daily functioning.
Research Process
Every guide on AtticusPoet.com follows a consistent production process:
- Keyword and topic research — We identify the specific questions readers are asking and the gaps in existing resources.
- Literature review — Relevant peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, and authoritative sources are gathered and reviewed before writing begins.
- Expert sources checked — For clinical topics, we cross-reference claims against IOCDF, APA, and ADAA materials. For ROCD-specific content, we reference published ROCD research from the Doron & Derby research unit.
- Internal review — Content is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and appropriate medical disclaimers before publication.
- Publication with citations — Where applicable, academic sources are listed at the foot of the guide.
Correction Policy
We take accuracy seriously on topics that touch mental health. Factual errors will be corrected within 48 hours of notification.
To report an error, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Correction Request," the URL of the page in question, and a description of the error and the correct information where known. We will acknowledge your report and update the page promptly. Significant corrections are noted in the article with the date of update.
Sponsored Content Policy
AtticusPoet.com does not publish sponsored guides or paid editorial placements. Our content recommendations reflect genuine editorial judgment, not financial arrangements with brands.
We do use affiliate links on some pages — primarily to Amazon book listings and therapy platforms (such as BetterHelp or similar). Affiliate links are disclosed inline with an "affiliate link" or "sponsored" label adjacent to the link. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial recommendations. We only link to products and services we would recommend regardless of commission.
Display advertising (Google AdSense) appears on some pages. Advertisements are clearly separated from editorial content.
